South East Northumberland Funding Event 2013

Once again both local infrastructure organisations in South East Northumberland  Community and Voluntary Action Blyth Valley and Wansbeck Centre for Voluntary Service have joined forces and arranged a joint funding event for VCS groups in South East Northumberland.  The event was held at the Isabella Community Centre, in Blyth on Tuesday 23rd April.  The event was a great success with nearly 100 delegates attending and 12 funders.  Jim Mackison was also in attendance undertaking a training workshop about fundraising with a focus on more sustainable funding.

Feedback from the event was excellent, as usual, and our groups and funders were full of praise and compliments.  The funders enjoyed themselves talking to members of groups on a one-to-one basis about their projects.  During the lunch break groups, funders and staff from both CVA Blyth Valley and Wansbeck CVS were able to network.

South East Northumberland  Funding Event 2012

Community and Voluntary Action Blyth Valley (CVABV) and Wansbeck Centre for Voluntary Service (WCVS) have arranged this joint funding event.

The event was an informal one with Voluntary and Community Sector organisations having the opportunity to talk to funders on a one-to-one basis and also to attend a training workshop to improve the quality of future funding applications.

We had 16 funders attending the event, with 85 people representing 70 VCS groups, as well as a Market Place of organisations which groups were able to visit whilst waiting for thier 15-minute appointments with the funders.

Jim Mackison attended the event and gave two talks on how to improve the quality of future funding applications both during the morning and afternoon sessions.

Feedback from the event has been better than ever with some very favourable comments from both funders and groups alike.

                                          Quiz Night

Previous Quizzes
Our annual Christmas quiz night is a very popular event which is held in December to get our voluntary and  community groups together in an informal way.  Our quizzes are very popular and our VCS groups enjoy a very enjoyable fun-filled evening.

Our quiz in 2010 was held on Tuesday 7 December 2010 at The Comrades Club, Wright Street, Blyth.

Even though the weather was cold and the streets were covered in snow and ice we still had around 70 people turn out for the Quiz Night, so thank you very much to all those who attended.

8 rounds of quizzes were undertaken as well as our Celebrity Santa picture round.

The teams enjoyed a very fun-filled and enjoyable evening including a free buffet.  Thank you to all those who turned up to make this a very successful and enjoyable event, better luck next year.  From the 13 teams taking part the winning team, for the 4th year running, was the team from the Community Enterprise Centre, although other teams were very close.
